You define your life.

You worked hard, you followed the blueprint to success, you did all the right things and made all the right choices, you sacrificed to get to where you are. And yet you still don’t feel the accomplishment and satisfaction you were expecting.

If that sounds like you, I want you to know that you are not alone.

We live a world where we are constantly told who we are, what we should do, how we should behave, what we should think, and how we should feel. If we don’t tune out the noise, we forget that we define who we are and what success means to us.

If your current life trajectory is leaving you feeling stuck, lost, anxious, empty, unhappy, unmotivated, depressed, worried, stressed, defeated, exhausted, stagnant, criticized, pressured, or any combination of the above, you’ve come to right place.

With a little bit of dedication and direction, you can achieve a life that you're proud of and that fulfills you-- one that gives you excitement, motivation, energy, purpose, and meaning.

The elements you need to create the meaningful life you want are already within you. Reach out if you’re ready to take the next steps to learn, acknowledge, and activate your best, authentic self.

About Me

Profile picture of Jimmy Nguyen, counselor at Healthy Mind Dojo LLC

Hi there! My name is Jimmy Nguyen, M.Ed., LPC-R, NCC. I am a Resident in Counseling in the state of Virginia working towards full independent licensure. I have been working as a therapist/counselor for over two years.

A bit about me: I am a second-generation Vietnamese-American with parents who immigrated to the US during the Vietnam War. I was born and raised in Northern Virginia, and I have also lived in Japan for over a decade. I am a gay, cisgender, millennial man. I have personal experience managing ADHD and anxiety, and I live a fulfilling and healthy life with these struggles.

My life experiences have afforded me with a unique international and multicultural lens. I specialize in immigrant/minority experiences, multicultural issues, and LGBT+ issues. I am also familiar with transpersonal, spiritual, and near-death experiences (NDEs).

I have helped clients navigate a wide range of issues, including depression, anxiety, ADHD, identity, self-confidence, loneliness, self-acceptance, motivation, productivity, perfectionism, grief, interpersonal conflict, relationships, sex & intimacy issues, life transitions, trauma, distress tolerance, life meaning & purpose, and pressures from family/society. These are just some of the many things you can bring up and explore in our sessions together. You are also welcome to bring up any other topics and concerns you may have—nothing is off the table in our discussions together!

I mainly work from a humanistic, strengths-based, and existential orientation, but I also utilize a collaborative and integrative approach, incorporating concepts from cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance & commitment therapy (ACT), mindfulness, self-compassion, and motivational interviewing.

If you are interested in working together, feel free to contact me to ask questions or schedule a free 30-minute consultation. I look forward to connecting with you!
